As TCA prepares for its Annual Call on Washington, join TCA Government Affairs staff Hailey Betham and David Heller for an interactive session designed to help attendees feel confident and prepared for meetings with Members of Congress and their staff. Whether you are a first-time advocate or a seasoned participant, this session will cover what to expect during a congressional meeting, how to effectively communicate your message, and the best practices for building productive, long-term relationships with policymakers.

In addition to reviewing advocacy fundamentals, TCA staff will provide an overview of the key legislative and policy issues that will be the focus of the Call on Washington, ensuring participants are equipped with the latest information, talking points, and priorities before heading to Capitol Hill.

Attendees will learn the essential do’s and don’ts of congressional advocacy, including how to present their issues clearly, share impactful personal stories, make a specific policy request, and effectively follow up after a meeting. The session will also provide practical tips on working with congressional staff, handling difficult questions, and maximizing limited meeting time to ensure your voice is heard.
