2021 TCA Safety Professional of the Year – Clare C. Casey Award – Accepting Nominations through April 14

04/07/2021

Alexandria, Virginia:

The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) is pleased to announce that is currently accepting nominations for the 2021 TCA Safety Professional of the Year – Clare C. Casey Award.

Don’t miss your chance to recognize a TCA member who goes above and beyond in the name of safety. You may nominate yourself, someone within your organization, or another industry safety professional.

There are several new changes for the 2021 competition, most notably that the nomination period now consists of two rounds.

Round 1 will be open from April 1 through Wednesday, April 14. The Round 1 entry form includes questions regarding nominator and nominee information, the recent safety performance of the nominee’s company, and the nominee’s industry involvement.

To be eligible for the award, nominees must:

  • Be employed full-time by a trucking company with motor carrier operating authority and is directing safety activities for its fleet at the supervisory level;
  • Have five years of full-time employment experience as a safety professional with a trucking company with motor carrier operating authority; and
  • Be employed by a trucking company that is a for-hire carrier member of the Truckload Carriers Association.

After the panel of judges has determined which applicants will move on to Round 2, nominators will be notified and will have until May 5 to submit the second entry form. Round 2 questions ask about nominee employment history, achievements, and community involvement.

The winner will be announced at the 2021 Safety & Security Meeting, June 6-8 in St. Louis, MO.

Last year’s award was presented to National Carriers, Inc.’s Director of Safety/Compliance, Jill Maschmeier. “Jill has led by example for the cause of highway safety for both the motoring public and in particular for freight transportation,” said National Carriers, Inc. Director Ed Kentner. “Participating in multiple areas she teaches, practices, and promotes a strong safety culture in every environment she is involved in.”

Nominees for the TCA Safety Professional of the Year – Clare C. Casey Award must exemplify leadership and demonstrate the goals of protecting lives and property in the motor transportation industry. The award is named after Clare Casey, a safety professional who actively served TCA from 1979 until 1989. He was devoted to ensuring that all truckload safety professionals build a strong safety network.
