TCA and the Trucking Industry Celebrate Another Successful National Wreaths Across America Day

Alexandria, Virginia:
On the Friday evening prior to National Wreaths Across America Day, nearly 500 people — professional truck drivers, trucking industry executives, Morrill and Karen Worcester, military dignitaries, Gold and Blue Star families and countless volunteers — gathered for the Arlington Wreath Rally. The event, sponsored by Pilot Flying J and hosted by the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) and Wreaths Across America (WAA), took place at the Hilton Crystal City, located a few miles from the cemetery.
The event’s keynote speaker was Colonel Kyle M. McClelland (Ret.), Director, Assistant Secretary of Defense (Legislative Affairs). Col. McClelland discussed the importance and the beauty of so many people coming together for a noble cause.
“Coach Lombardi described teamwork as ‘Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work,’” said McClelland. “This quote epitomizes the combined efforts of Wreaths Across America, the Truckload Carriers Association and its professional drivers, and the countless volunteers who make National Wreaths Across America Day such a successful patriotic remembrance and honor event at our national military cemeteries across the Nation.”
More than 80,000 attendees placed remembrance wreaths on gravestones in Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, leading to the fourth consecutive year in which every grave received a wreath. In addition to the successes at Arlington, an additional more than 1 million wreaths were placed at more than 1,500 veterans’ cemeteries around the country.
“Our partnership with Wreaths Across America provides an opportunity for us and our members to give back to the brave men and women who have sacrificed for our freedoms,” said TCA President John Lyboldt.
