TCA Congratulates President Joseph R. Biden on his Inauguration
Alexandria, Virginia:
The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) congratulates President Joseph R. Biden on his inauguration as the 46th President of the United States. We look forward to working with him and his new Administration on policies that will revive our economy in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
TCA offers our assistance to the President, the Administration, and Congress as they work on issues of importance to truckload carriers. The Biden Administration and Congress have jointly established infrastructure reform as a shared priority to be acted upon within the first 100 days of Biden’s presidency. We strongly support this goal, as our industry desperately needs a modern infrastructure network in order to help the country rebound from the pandemic and continue to ensure American’s have the goods they need to keep their families healthy and safe during this challenging time. TCA is committed to working with all policymakers as they craft language that will ensure America’s roads and bridges have the necessary funding to once again make our infrastructure network the envy of the world.
We also look forward to working with President Biden’s Transportation Secretary nominee Pete Buttigieg on the many important initiatives currently under consideration by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The recent announcement of a proposed pilot program to study adding more sleeper berth flexibility to the hours-of-service regulations was applauded by truckload carriers, and we call on the Agency to finalize this program. Additionally, issues such as 18-20-year-old drivers in interstate commerce and the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse remain highly important to our industry. TCA encourages the new leadership at the Department of Transportation to prioritize these initiatives in the years ahead.
TCA commits to ensuring the voice of truckload is heard loud and clear in the coming months, and we will do all we can to assist the efforts of the new President, the Administration, and the Congress to strengthen the economy and propel America forward.
