Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund – The Wall That Heals

Since 2015, the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) have partnered to bring The Wall That Heals to communities across America.

A 375-foot long replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, The Wall That Heals, honors the nearly eight million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. It bears the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

“Partnering with TCA enables us to continue our mission to honor and preserve the legacy of The Wall and educate all generations about the impact of the Vietnam War.” – VVMF CEO Jim Knotts

Partnership

Since its debut in 1996, more than two million people have visited The Wall That Heals. The mobile education unit has made stops in nearly 400 communities throughout the U.S. and the world, including Ireland and Canada. The Wall That Heals provides an educational experience for local schools and organizations on the history of the Vietnam era and The Wall. Visitors can view photos of service members whose names are found on The Wall, letters and memorabilia left at The Wall in Washington, D.C., a map of Vietnam, and a chronological overview of the conflict.

Following a successful collaboration with Wreaths Across America, TCA is providing the opportunity for its member companies and professional truck drivers to continue a legacy of service, and drive the trailer hauling the exhibit, including The Wall replica and an accompanying mobile education center.

Hoekstra Transportation Hosts Event in 2019

TCA Member Hoekstra Transportation was chosen by VVMF to host The Wall That Heals for 2019. The Wall That Heals was on display from June 27-30 in Bourbonnais, Illinois at Perry Farm.

“We consider it a privilege to be chosen by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund as the local sponsor to present The Wall That Heals. It is an honor to bring this to Kankakee County and the surrounding area. We look forward to working with the community to present this significant memorial and use this event as a time for healing, honoring and educating.” – Steve Hoekstra, President of Hoekstra
