COVID-19 Vaccine Rule Text Moves from OSHA to OMB for Review
A note from the Chairman:
In September, President Biden announced his plan that would require COVID-19 vaccinations or weekly testing for all businesses with over 100 employees. Yesterday, as part of the regulatory process, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has submitted the initial text of the vaccine rule to the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for its review. While no timetable currently exists on this rule, the expectation is that the review process at OMB could be completed within the next few weeks.
TCA remains committed to expressing the viewpoints of our industry on this issue, focusing on the dramatic change it could have on our driving force and exorbitant impact it would have on capacity in an already tight market. As such, we continue to stress the impractical demands that such a rule would have on our segment of the industry, especially for the drivers operating in an irregular route environment.
As the rule continues its progress towards publication in the Federal Register, we remain committed to stating our apprehensions and concerns over this mandate and the effects it will have on our industry. While we don’t currently know what the requirements contained in the rule are, we are dedicated to telling our story and the impact that this mandate could have on an industry that delivers a nation.
As always, we promise to keep you abreast of the situation as more information arises.
