My father and my grandfather have been working in the trucking industry their whole lives. My grandfather is now retired and my father is still working in the industry. Growing up, it was hard on my family dealing with many challenges that arose from working in this industry. When I was only nine years old, my father had received a job offer from another company in Tennessee, and moved us there. Although it was a much better opportunity for our family, it was very hard on all us because of the amount of time that my father was away from home. This new job caused for him to be gone all the time, traveling around the southeast. After six years of building so many amazing relationships, my dad had received another job offer from Raven Transport. We moved to Florida when I was a sophomore in high school and for me this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through. Although it was another amazing opportunity, it was something that took me a few years to realize. Not only did it allow my father to be home every night, but it helped our family become closer. It gave everyone in our family an opportunity that led to so much more. Not only did it allow me to get into lacrosse and gain a scholarship to continue playing the sport I love in college, but both of my brothers as well got this opportunity. I am so thankful for everything the trucking industry has done for my family and every opportunity that they have provided for us. Although it was difficult at the time to get through those challenges, I am very thankful that I was able to get through them with my family by my side.
